Cheyenne Frontier Days CEO Plans 2027 Departure
Cheyenne Frontier Days CEO Tom Hirsig will step down after the 2027 celebration, concluding a leadership tenure that began in 2015. Hirsig said the organization is in a strong position and that the timing is right for a transition; the board said his departure is his choice and not prompted by internal conflict. He will remain through the 2027 event as the board conducts a national search, with help from an external executive search firm, for his successor. Hirsig’s leadership and deep family ties to the rodeo have helped shape the event, while he has emphasized the importance of its community role and long-term future.
