Chicago Leads US Home-Price Growth in August
Chicago home prices are rising faster than the national pace: Redfin reported a 10.3% year-over-year increase in September, while the Case-Shiller index showed a 6.7% annual gain in August, the highest among tracked cities. Nationally, home prices rose 2.1% year over year in August, but fell in real terms for the 15th consecutive month as inflation outpaced gains. The figures use different indexes and periods, but both point to stronger price growth in Chicago amid ongoing affordability pressures.
