Chiefs Bench Suamataia Again Before Broncos Game

The Kansas City Chiefs benched left guard Kingsley Suamataia for the second time this season, starting veteran Mike Caliendo instead before their Week 8 game against the Denver Broncos. The move echoed a Week 4 lineup change against the Raiders; Suamataia returned to the starting role afterward and played in the next two games. Coach Andy Reid has declined to explain the decisions publicly, saying the matter is between him and Suamataia, and the reason for the latest benching remains unclear. Reports describe Suamataia as having played well, leaving Kansas City’s repeated change at left guard an unresolved question amid broader uncertainty on the offensive line.
