Child Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested at Laredo Port

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested Juan Elizondo Delgado, 34, on Sept. 29 as he traveled by bus toward Mexico through the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge in Laredo. Authorities said he lacked documentation to enter or remain in the United States and that database checks confirmed a Reno Police Department felony warrant alleging sexual assault of a child under 14 with a deadly weapon. Delgado was turned over to Webb County deputies; local jail records later listed the warrant-related charges as sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child by sexual conduct. One report said he was released Oct. 14 on personal-recognizance bonds, while another published that day described him as in custody. The allegations have not been proven in court.
