Children Nationwide Vie in Stan Lee Contest
Children and teens across the United States and Canada are competing in the Stan Lee Foundation’s Super Kid contest, which promotes literacy and storytelling by turning the winner’s story into a comic. Entrants include 13-year-old Avett Wellman of Rye, New Hampshire; 16-year-old Taylor Giroux of Oliver, British Columbia, who has faced serious health challenges; and five-year-old Bryson Williams of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, whose family celebrates his progress with speech and learning challenges. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, teen Julian Eppler is also competing, with his mother highlighting how his focus on drawing helps challenge stigma around ADHD. The contest winner is set to receive a comic-book feature, $25,000 and VIP passes to Los Angeles Comic-Con, while families, classmates and community members rally behind the young contestants.
