Chili Cook-Offs Held, Planned Across Communities
Several communities are hosting chili cook-offs as fundraisers and fall gatherings. In Kilgore, Texas, the East Texas Oilmen’s Association’s 33rd annual competition features about 60 teams, with proceeds benefiting the East Texas Treatment Center and other local nonprofits. Hillsdale, Michigan’s second annual downtown cook-off will pair a chili contest and cash prizes with music, food trucks and family activities, while organizers say the event is intended to bring residents, students and visitors downtown. North Huron’s Senior Active Learning Centre held its first annual cook-off, offering guests three varieties of chili. On Caney Lake in Louisiana, the seventh annual cook-off and fall festival is planned with vendors, entertainment and a trunk-or-treat.
