China Eliminates Puerto Rico, Reaches World Cup Quarterfinals

Puerto Rico’s women’s basketball team was eliminated from the 2026 FIBA World Cup after China won 75-72 in Berlin. The game was tied at 66 early in the fourth quarter before Han Xu scored 14 points in the final period to help China pull ahead, finishing with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Trinity San Antonio led Puerto Rico with 24 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and five steals, while the team remained within reach until China sealed the victory at the free-throw line. China advanced after recovering from an opening loss to the United States and defeating Czechia and Italy, while Puerto Rico reached the knockout stage after upsetting Turkey in the group phase.
