China Party Tightens Official Oversight, Family Scrutiny
China’s Communist Party has adopted measures to tighten internal discipline, including expanded party and national history education, continuous monitoring of officials, and closer scrutiny of personal disclosures and family assets. The measures also call for oversight of business activities involving senior officials’ relatives. President Xi Jinping defended rigorous party governance as essential to China’s development and warned against relaxing enforcement. Party officials said strict discipline is intended to curb corruption and protect officials who follow the rules, not discourage initiative or responsible action.
