Chippewa Manor raises $57,100 for veterans’ service dogs

Communities in Hays County, Texas, are marking Veterans Day with parades, school programs, ceremonies and other events, including a Texas State University commemoration and a Kyle parade. In Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Chippewa Manor’s 18th annual Veterans Salute raised $57,100 for Patriot K9s of Wisconsin, more than doubling its $25,000 goal and funding service dogs for veterans. The nonprofit provides trained dogs at no cost to eligible veterans with service-connected disabilities, and says the dogs can help recipients regain independence and cope with isolation, sleep problems and other challenges. The salute also included tributes to local veterans.
