Cities Act on Short-Term Rental Rules
Cities are taking different approaches to short-term rentals. In New Haven, a Board of Alders committee advanced a proposal requiring licenses for rentals under 30 days, with eligibility generally limited to homeowners and longtime residents renting rooms in their primary homes; supporters argued that short-term rentals reduce housing availability and contribute to rising rents. In Danville, Kentucky, officials approved four conditional-use permits, including one allowing the restored historic Crawford House to host up to six overnight guests, subject to conditions such as staying current on room taxes. In Bandon, Oregon, an advisory committee recommended capping vacation rentals at 80 and adding fees and restrictions, following a pause on new applications.
