Cities open, plan, cancel seasonal ice rinks

Holiday ice-rink plans vary by community: York is bringing a seasonal rink back to its city center for the first time since 2010, with hourly snowfall, food and entertainment planned at Museum Gardens. Lexington’s longtime Triangle Park rink will not operate this holiday season because of unspecified circumstances; organizers plan a free interactive light display instead and hope to restore the rink in 2027. Arlington Heights approved a pilot rink near North School Park, with construction targeted for mid-November and an opening dependent in part on weather and ice conditions. In Alexandria, a new outdoor rink at Elda-Rouleau Catholic Elementary School has opened to support school skating and hockey programs and offer students more opportunities for physical activity.
