Cities Plan Widespread Halloween Road Closures

Cities are preparing for Halloween events with road closures, parking restrictions and added safety measures. In Chattanooga, closures will accommodate a fall festival, a UTC football game, Halloween events and neighborhood block parties, with further restrictions planned for the Head of the Hooch rowing event in November. Raleigh will close part of Glenwood South for Halloween celebrations and increase law-enforcement staffing; the area must be cleared overnight so crews can prepare for the City of Oaks Marathon Sunday morning. Buena Vista and Marblehead are also closing streets for children’s events, while police urge drivers to slow down and watch for trick-or-treaters; Buena Vista officers will also target impaired driving. Manteo has announced Halloween-related parking restrictions and traffic changes for Oct. 31.
