City Colleges, Faculty Union Reach Tentative Deal
City Colleges of Chicago and the union representing about 1,500 faculty and professional staff reached a tentative four-year contract agreement after overnight negotiations, averting a strike scheduled for Monday. The contract dispute had centered on wages, benefits and health insurance, protections around artificial intelligence, and reducing barriers to student access, including developmental education. Union members had authorized a strike, and leaders said they remained prepared to walk out if no deal was reached. The agreement still requires approval by union members and the City Colleges Board of Trustees.
