Class I Recalls Cover Potato, Veggie Chips
The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a Class I recall for about 264 pounds of El Eden Import Distributor Corp.’s De Todito Natural and De Todito BBQ mixed potato chips containing pork cracklings. The chicharrón was produced in Colombia, which is not eligible to export meat or poultry products to the United States, and the recalled bags lack required import marks. The products were imported July 28 and distributed to locations in New Jersey and Utah after a consumer complaint brought the issue to officials’ attention. No illnesses or injuries have been reported, but consumers should not eat the chips and should discard them or return them to the place of purchase.
