Closed Pennsylvania Winery Files Chapter 11 Bankruptcy
Moon Dancer Vineyards & Winery in Wrightsville, Pennsylvania, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after closing in November 2025 following a long-running legal dispute with neighboring property owners over whether local land ordinances permitted the winery. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s rejection of the winery’s final appeal led to the shutdown after 22 years of operation, while an upcoming bankruptcy hearing will determine whether it can reopen. Court filings list the winery’s assets at roughly $100,000 to $500,000 and its debts at $1 million to $10 million, with M&T Bank, the Small Business Administration and a Harrisburg law firm among its largest unsecured creditors. The filing comes amid broader financial strain in the U.S. wine industry, which saw revenue decline 21% from 2020 through 2025, with other wineries also turning to Chapter 11 to address foreclosure threats and debt.
