Coastal Flooding Hits Bay Area, Threatens Florida
Flooding threats are elevated in several coastal regions, though the causes vary. In northeast and southeast Florida, a disturbance is bringing periods of heavy rain through Monday, with localized flooding possible, especially in low-lying and poorly drained areas; a Flood Watch covers the Treasure Coast and Palm Beach County, and coastal high tides could slow drainage. Farther north, Jacksonville is also under coastal flood alerts, with more rain and possible isolated flooding expected before additional storms later in the week. On Anna Maria Island, king tides have already flooded parts of North Shore Drive. In California’s Bay Area, repeated high-tide flooding has inundated roads and other low-lying areas, prompting an extended coastal flood advisory and warnings not to drive through floodwater.
