Coastal Hazards Rise Across Florida, South Carolina
A strong fall cold front is bringing cooler temperatures and powerful northeasterly winds to Florida, with gusts reaching 35 to 45 mph in coastal areas. Rough surf, elevated rip-current danger and possible tidal flooding are expected around Northeast Florida, while seas of 9 to 14 feet are forecast farther south along the coast. High surf and marine advisories are in effect, and officials advise beachgoers to stay out of dangerous water or swim only near lifeguards; boaters should heed marine warnings. Drier, mostly sunny weather is expected after the front passes, with temperatures generally in the 70s.
