Cocaine Busts Yield Hundreds of Kilograms, Multiple Arrests
A Guatemalan man pleaded guilty in Virginia to coordinating the movement of more than 450 kilograms of cocaine from Colombia through Central America and Mexico toward U.S. markets, with an encrypted photo of a cocaine brick helping prosecutors build the case. In separate U.S. investigations, authorities seized 111 pounds of cocaine in Mebane, North Carolina, and arrested two men; in Pennsylvania, a probe into cocaine shipments from Puerto Rico through the mail led to four arrests and seizures of multiple cocaine bricks. In Rockford, Illinois, a search prompted by tips about cocaine sales uncovered more than a kilogram of cocaine alongside large quantities of other drugs and a loaded handgun, leading to a man's arrest. Separately, police in Guaratuba, Brazil, arrested a man after finding 325 crack rocks and five portions of cocaine in his bag.
