College Teams Set for Cross-Country Championships

Whitefish’s boys and girls teams each placed 12th at the Montana state cross-country meet in Billings, with every runner recording a personal or season best and both squads posting their fastest team times. Freshman Porter Shehan led the boys with a third-place finish in a personal-best 15:34.1, the second-fastest time in program history. Several college teams are also entering conference postseason competition: NC State will seek another ACC women’s title and its first men’s championship since 2011, while UConn’s women will look to improve on last season’s fourth-place BIG EAST finish. Alabama A&M’s men’s and women’s teams are set to compete for SWAC titles in Tallahassee.
