College Women’s Soccer Seasons Close With Losses
UConn’s women’s soccer team enters its season-ending game against Villanova with a program-record nine draws and must win to keep its postseason hopes alive, facing a Wildcats team with a far stronger scoring attack and defense. Elsewhere, Vermont was eliminated from the America East tournament when an own goal less than three minutes into overtime gave UMBC a 1-0 win, despite Vermont’s 20-3 advantage in shots. Florida State lost 2-1 to Virginia Tech on Thursday. Shippensburg’s season ended with a 5-2 loss to Millersville after the Raiders briefly rallied to take a second-half lead; Millersville forward Aubrey Strohecker scored four goals.
