Columbia replaces aging apartments with 82 mixed-income homes
The Vision at Parkway has opened in Columbia, Maryland, replacing the aging 41-unit Ranleagh Court complex with 82 mixed-income apartments. The community includes affordable, workforce and market-rate housing, with rent assistance for some households and rents in certain tax-credit units starting at $1,300. Its amenities include family and community spaces, and the development was designed with energy-efficient features. The opening is part of a broader redevelopment effort: Enterprise Community Development is also replacing a 62-unit property with 123 homes at Legacy at Cedar Lane, bringing more than 200 new apartments to the area across the two projects. A resident who previously lived in a shelter said the new home gives her and her son a place of their own, as Howard County continues to confront housing affordability challenges.
