Communities Advance School, Infrastructure Projects
Several local governments and school districts are advancing infrastructure and construction projects. Fort Wayne received committee approval for about $2.5 million in street, drainage, sidewalk and accessibility improvements, while Crookston’s planning commission recommended an alleyway development near Lincoln School that could allow adjacent homeowners to buy small lots. In Tennessee, the DeKalb County school board approved a $45.6 million Smithville elementary school, below the original estimate, with construction expected to begin in November. San Antonio ISD is seeking voter approval for a $600 million bond package, even as trustees raised concerns about seven projects from its 2020 bond that remain incomplete or unstarted. Forest City school officials also secured board approval for projects addressing ongoing HVAC issues, though details were not provided.
