Communities build resources for children, families
Communities and nonprofits are expanding support for children and young adults with disabilities by connecting families with services and stable living arrangements. Coeur d’Alene schools will host a free resources fair for students receiving special education services and their families, with providers covering employment, transportation, housing, health care, education and transition planning. In North Dakota, Nexus Family Healing is recruiting families for its Host Homes program, which offers youth with intellectual or developmental disabilities family-style care, ongoing support and a path toward greater independence. Utah’s CHILL Act Expo brings local providers together with families, offering free access to resource information and autism prescreenings to help families find nearby services.
