Communities Hold, Schedule 2027 Budget Hearings
Several local governments and districts have scheduled public hearings or council proceedings on proposed 2027 budgets and property taxes. Rhinebeck, New York, is considering a $6.05 million budget that cuts spending 3.39% while raising its property-tax levy 3.87%; the plan sharply reduces the outgoing supervisor’s salary to keep the levy within the state tax cap. Burket, Indiana, proposed a $120,800 budget, with adoption scheduled for Oct. 22. Spokane, Washington, planned a revenue hearing Oct. 28 and a Nov. 4 vote on a property-tax ordinance that would increase its regular levy by 1.25%, with the total levy estimated to rise 2.43%; its EMS levy is also proposed to increase. The Ischua Fire District announced a public hearing on its proposed annual budget, while Colby, Wisconsin, scheduled a budget hearing for Nov. 3.
