Communities organize Thanksgiving food aid
Community organizations in several states are organizing Thanksgiving food assistance while seeking donations amid high demand and rising costs. In New Haven, His Divine Will Fellowship plans its annual Day of Joy dinner and take-home distribution of food, winter coats and diapers, but says higher expenses and reduced donor support are putting the event at risk after it served 1,500 people last year. WIN Victim Services is collecting meal ingredients for 50 to 60 families affected by domestic violence, while Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry is seeking side dishes to serve 1,200 families. In Shippensburg, a volunteer-run pantry will distribute Thanksgiving food boxes with support from the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and local contributors.
