Communities plan public art projects, seek artists
Communities in York County, Pennsylvania; Fairfield, Connecticut; Greensboro, North Carolina; and Lanesboro, Minnesota, are expanding opportunities for public art and local artists. York County’s first public art navigator, Corey Wolfe, will help municipalities and artists develop projects ranging from temporary installations and poetry events to murals, while Lanesboro Arts is funding community art projects to sustain connection and downtown engagement during major 2027 construction. Greensboro is inviting resident artists to apply for downtown displays and a permanent City Hall commission, with honoraria and a $3,000 commission available. Fairfield is seeking artist-designed vinyl wraps for traffic-signal utility cabinets, offering selected artists a $500 stipend, and is also asking the public to propose a theme for its annual juried art challenge. Together, the programs aim to showcase local creativity and make community spaces more engaging.
