Counties Review Winter Prep After Storm Left Roads Impassable
Transportation and public works agencies are preparing for winter weather, with Ohio’s District 12 inspecting 114 snowplows and stocking salt and brine to serve Cuyahoga County. The department says it aims to clear roads within two hours after storms and urges drivers to slow down and give plows room. In Jackson and Madison County, officials are considering better preparation after Winter Storm Fern left key roads impassable; TDOT had prioritized keeping I-40 clear before plowing Madison County roads. Teller County is entering the season about 10 workers short and plans to reduce its daytime plow routes from 18 to 15, prioritizing main roads and school bus routes while reserving traction materials for dangerous spots.
