Community organizations and local businesses are launching Christmas appeals to support people facing hardship. In Inishowen, a charity is again working with schools to discreetly provide toys to children and families, while Newbury Weekly News’s long-running parcel fund seeks donations and volunteers to deliver festive packages to residents aged 80 and over in Newbury, Thatcham and Hungerford. In Pennsylvania, a motor vehicle toy run on October 18 will collect new toys for CHOR Youth & Family Services’ holiday gift drive. Manchester-based Edison Media and Glencar Construction are asking for gifts or financial contributions for children and young people across Bury, Salford and Bolton. Kinship Carers UK is also collecting new, sealed toys and gifts for children aged 2 to 16, with donations accepted in Worcester through November 23.
