Community Galas Support Charities, Scholarships

Community organizations are using galas and special events to bring people together around local causes, faith and fellowship. United Way of Lee County’s Nov. 19 Girlfriend Gala will raise money for programs and grants benefiting 36 local nonprofits, while offering food, music, shopping and auctions. In Baton Rouge, the Louisiana Fourth District Missionary Baptist Association is reviving its musical event and holding a scholarship gala for high school seniors on Nov. 8 and 9. Galleria Fort Lauderdale’s Dec. 3 Spirit of Giving Night will recognize community philanthropists and direct ticket proceeds to seven local charities. Second Saint John Missionary Baptist Church also celebrated its annual Men’s Day with a gala centered on faith, fellowship and brotherhood.
