ConocoPhillips to cut Canadian jobs amid global restructuring
ConocoPhillips says it will reduce its Canadian workforce on Tuesday, affecting employees and contractors, but has not disclosed how many positions will be cut or which operations will be affected. The company says it regularly reviews its organization to support its long-term strategy and operate efficiently. An internal notice reported by CTV News directed Calgary employees to work from home for virtual notifications, while workers at Alberta’s Surmont and Montney operations were to be notified by phone. The cuts come as the company continues a broader restructuring announced after its acquisition of Marathon Oil, which included plans to reduce its global workforce by 20% to 25%.
