Fort Wayne coroner IDs 27th and 28th homicide victims this year
Authorities identified Barry Lynn Martin, 62, as the man killed in a Fort Wayne police shooting on Nov. 3; an autopsy found he died of multiple gunshot wounds, and the coroner classified the death as a homicide-police action shooting. Police said officers were serving a warrant when Martin began shooting, prompting them to retreat and return fire; one officer reportedly suffered minor injuries, and the involved officers were placed on administrative leave. The shooting remains under investigation and is Allen County’s 28th homicide of 2026. In a separate case, 28-year-old De’Mario A. Dale died from a stab wound sustained during an Oct. 31 altercation on South Barr Street, the county’s 27th homicide this year. Nyeauhnna Jones was arrested and faces a preliminary murder charge; court documents say the couple’s children witnessed the stabbing, and her next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 16.
