Coroner Identifies Two Killed in Fiery Pueblo Crash

Doris Louise Mascarenas and Nicholas Joseph Matis, both 46, were identified as the two people killed when their Dodge Avenger crashed into a building on West Fourth Street in Pueblo shortly after 11 p.m. on Oct. 16. The car came to rest on its side inside the building and caught fire as officers tried to reach an occupant; firefighters extinguished the blaze, and both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation and brought Pueblo’s traffic-fatality count to 16 for the year.
