Counties seek poll workers ahead of elections
Election officials in Allen County, Indiana; San Luis Obispo County, California; and Richland County, South Carolina, are recruiting poll workers ahead of November’s elections. San Luis Obispo County is particularly seeking clerks in Shandon and San Miguel, along with backup workers, while Richland County says it needs roughly twice as many workers as the nearly 600 who have completed training. Allen County is hiring clerks, judges and inspectors, with advertised pay ranging from $160 to $250; Richland County offers a $185 stipend after required training and a day of work. Training requirements vary by role and county, and officials say previous experience is not necessary for some positions.
