Cornell Green, Cowboys star with no college football experience, dies at 86
Cornell Green, a former Dallas Cowboys defensive back and longtime NFL scout, has died at 86, the Cowboys and Denver Broncos announced. Despite having played only one year of high school football and none in college, Green joined Dallas in 1962 after starring in basketball at Utah State and being drafted by the NBA. He played all 182 regular-season games over 13 seasons, earning five Pro Bowl selections and two first-team All-Pro honors, and helped the Cowboys win their first Super Bowl after moving from cornerback to safety. Green later worked as a scout for the Cowboys and spent nearly three decades with the Broncos.
