Creighton women beat SDSU on buzzer-beater

Creighton’s Ava Zediker hit a buzzer-beater to give the Bluejays a 73-71 win over South Dakota State in the teams’ season opener in Brookings. Zediker scored a game-high 21 points, including 16 in the fourth quarter, as Creighton overcame an eight-point deficit and took its first lead of the period on the final play. SDSU freshman Shindelar scored 15 points in her collegiate debut, the most by a Jackrabbit freshman in a season opener in at least 20 years. The loss ended SDSU’s run of wins in the series dating to 2022-23; the Jackrabbits next host Northern Iowa on Friday.
