Critchlow Announces First South Bend 2027 Mayoral Bid
Portage Township Trustee Jason Critchlow has announced he will run as a Democrat for South Bend mayor in 2027, becoming the first candidate to enter the race. It will be his second mayoral campaign; he finished second in the 2019 Democratic primary, which James Mueller won, and Mueller has not said whether he will seek a third term. Critchlow says he wants local government to work for residents and has emphasized practical priorities such as fixing streets, holding negligent landlords accountable, improving public safety and addressing violence near Eddy Street Commons. The mayor, city clerk and Common Council seats will be on the November 2027 ballot.
