Crowds Recreate Depeche Mode Photo on Prague Bridge

Tourists are lining up at the Pietà sculpture on Prague’s Charles Bridge to recreate a 1988 photograph of Depeche Mode members Dave Gahan and Martin Gore. Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn took the image during the band’s visit to Prague, months after its historic concert there during communist rule. Fans have made the trip for years, but crowds photographed during the band’s 2024 Prague performances and the image’s popularity on social media appear to have fueled a surge in visitors. Some tourists say they are drawn both by the famous photo and by the fit between the band’s music and Prague’s atmosphere.
