Crumbl closes at least 57 stores nationwide
Crumbl has closed at least 57 locations nationwide in 2026, including seven in California, as the chain faces falling sales and customer traffic, layoffs and pressure on its franchise business. Reported California closures include stores in Cupertino, Paso Robles, Pismo Beach, Hanford, Ladera Ranch, Mira Mesa and Westlake Village; the Topeka location, by contrast, says it plans to remain open. Crumbl grew to more than 1,000 locations after building a following with oversized cookies, rotating weekly flavors and social-media appeal, but reported sales in August were 70% below the level two years earlier and store traffic was down 32% year over year. The closures come amid broader difficulties in the cookie business: Chip City also shut all its locations after efforts to stabilize the company failed.
