Dakshina Kannada tree crushes school bus; child dead

A large roadside tree fell onto a moving school bus near Barimaru village in Bantwal, Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka, around 5 pm, killing one child and injuring two others as the bus was returning home after classes. The bus was from Kalladka Shree Rama School, and Bantwal Rural Police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara expressed sorrow and directed district officials to provide appropriate compensation to the bereaved family and ensure the best possible treatment for the injured, saying the government stands with the affected families, and he asked District In-Charge Minister UT Khader to oversee relief measures.
