Danbury Crypto-Kidnapping Funder Gets Four Years

Saif Faiq, 23, of St. Louis, was sentenced to four years in federal prison and two years of supervised release for helping plan a violent 2024 Danbury kidnapping tied to an attempt to recover cryptocurrency allegedly stolen in a $245 million heist. Prosecutors said the kidnappers targeted the parents of the alleged crypto thief after a co-conspirator’s dispute with their son, and that Faiq helped organize the operation and traveled to Connecticut. The couple were attacked, forced into a van and rescued after witnesses alerted police. Separately, Martel Williams pleaded guilty to joining an earlier phase of the plot, in which a recruited crew allegedly stalked the family before abandoning the plan; a Florida group later carried out the kidnapping attempt.
