Davis Claims Four-Point Gap Against Letlow
Louisiana’s U.S. Senate race between Republican Julia Letlow and Democrat Jamie Davis appears more competitive than initially expected, though pollster John Couvillon still sees Letlow as favored and cautions it will not be an easy win. Davis says his campaign’s internal polling puts him four points behind and is emphasizing grassroots support, reporting $4 million raised largely from individual donors and nearly $1 million in cash on hand. Letlow declined a candidate forum; her campaign has raised nearly $7 million, including substantial PAC support and funds transferred from her House campaign, and she has about $1.41 million on hand. As early voting began, Letlow urged supporters to vote, framing the contest as a choice between freedom and socialism, while Senator John Kennedy campaigned on her behalf.
