Democrat Lindsay James Flips Iowa 2nd District
Democrat Lindsay James won Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District race, defeating Republican Joe Mitchell and flipping the seat from Republican to Democratic control. With about 98% of votes counted, James had roughly 50% to Mitchell’s 46%. The seat was open after Republican Rep. Ashley Hinson entered the U.S. Senate race. James, an Iowa state representative and Presbyterian pastor, campaigned on lowering costs, expanding access to affordable health care, and addressing money in politics; Mitchell emphasized lower taxes, reduced government spending, and support for Iowa industries.
