Democrats Win Seats Across Michigan University Boards
Democrats strengthened their hold on Michigan’s public university governing boards in the Nov. 3 election. At Michigan State University, incumbents Brianna Scott and Kelly Tebay won reelection to eight-year trustee terms, defeating Republican challengers. At Wayne State University, Democrats Shereef Akeel and Richard Mack won the two Board of Governors seats, beating Republicans Christa Murphy and Andy Anuzis; Mack said he saw the result as voters rejecting “hate.” University of Michigan Democrats Paul Brown and Amir Makled also won the two open Board of Regents seats, preserving the party’s majority.
