Deutsche Bank settles €152M Monte dei Paschi suit as similar cases persist

Deutsche Bank has settled a €152 million lawsuit brought by former investment banker Dario Schiraldi over alleged career damage stemming from the bank’s dealings with Italy’s Monte dei Paschi di Siena. The confidential out-of-court agreement resolves all of Schiraldi’s claims, and Deutsche Bank said it expects only a small impact on its third-quarter 2026 results. Schiraldi and other former employees were convicted in Italy in 2019 in a case involving alleged false accounting and market manipulation at Monte dei Paschi, but their convictions were overturned on appeal in 2022. Deutsche Bank has denied the former employees’ allegations, while four similar lawsuits seeking more than £600 million remain pending in London; the bank has also settled with another former employee.
