Dez Bryant Cited After Police Gunpoint Encounter
Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant says a dispute with two drivers in a Southlake, Texas, restaurant parking lot began after they cut him off and drove recklessly. Bryant acknowledged knocking a phone from one man’s hand after the man began recording him; he said the man had threatened to shoot him but did not produce a weapon. Responding officers drew a firearm and ordered Bryant and the other men to the ground, handcuffing them as Bryant’s two daughters watched. Bryant was cited for assault by contact, not arrested, and disputes the citation and the way police handled the encounter, calling for a fuller investigation.
