Disney is developing a fifth Halloweentown movie, about 20 years after the last installment, with Lily Houghton and Ryan Koehn writing a script based on characters created by original-film writer Paul Bernbaum. Plot details are under wraps, and it has not been confirmed whether original stars Kimberly J. Brown or Sara Paxton will return; the project is being developed for Disney Channel and Disney+. The 1998 film launched a four-movie franchise about Marnie Piper discovering her family’s magical heritage, and the series has reportedly amassed 160 million hours streamed globally on Disney+.
