DOJ Seeks to Block Alaska Senate Certification
The Trump administration has asked a federal court to block Alaska from certifying its Senate election results if Republican incumbent Dan S. Sullivan loses narrowly to Democrat Mary Peltola. The Justice Department argues that a third candidate, also named Dan Sullivan, could confuse voters and affect the outcome; Alaska courts previously allowed that candidate to remain on the ballot. President Donald Trump said he directed the department to act, in a move that raises concerns about expanding federal intervention in elections administered by states.
