Dozens of Runners’ Cars Towed During Binational Half-Marathon
Dozens of participants in the San Diego–Tijuana Binational Half Marathon returned from the 13.1-mile race to find their cars had been towed and had to pay hundreds of dollars to retrieve them. Some runners said they parked at Las Américas Premium Outlets, which the event website listed as a place where vehicles could be left without risk of towing; another said race personnel directed him to park at San Ysidro Village. The organizers said their staff were not assigned to manage parking and that San Ysidro Village was not an authorized location, identifying Las Américas and Baja-Mex Ped West Parking as the official options. The accounts leave runners disputing responsibility for the towing, including those who say they followed the event’s posted guidance.
