A 21-year-old Greenville man, Matthew Dale Barton, died after the 1998 Ford Explorer he was driving crashed early Monday on Pelzer Highway near Tinsley Drive in Pickens County. The SUV went off the right side of the road, overcorrected, overturned and struck a utility trailer; a passenger was injured and taken to a hospital, with their condition not reported. The coroner’s office said Barton was not wearing a seat belt. The South Carolina Highway Patrol and coroner’s office are investigating the crash.
