Drought persists across North America, India
Drought remains a concern across several regions, though recent rain has brought slight relief in parts of Barton County, Kansas, where moderate to severe drought persists and the northern area remains exceptionally dry. Maine is still in at least moderate drought statewide, with severe conditions across much of the state and little rain expected soon; officials say repeated soaking rains will be needed to replenish groundwater. In British Columbia’s Okanagan, drought was raised to Level 3, the highest rating reported in the province, as some tributaries approach or fall below critical flow levels. Telangana officials also report deficient rainfall, depleted groundwater in many areas and falling reservoir levels, urging farmers to conserve water and consider alternative crops for the coming season.
